Thanks Carissa! This has got to be the quote of the year for me...or maybe the quote for next year, as a my New Year resolution. :)


I've been thinking a lot about this. Or maybe should I say, God has been speaking to me a lot about this. This has been the challenge God has put inside our hearts as a family lately.

Some thoughts that have gone through my mind:

What good is there in complaining? Do we even have the right to complain?? I mean, when you think about it, if I complain, it means I think I am better, yet, I am not. Don't get me wrong, I think we have to fight for what is right, defend what is true...but the kind of complaining that is just babbling, or pointing out the faultiness in others or in other things. What good is there in it? Will it make me grow? Will it make me wiser? Will it make things more just?

Honestly...I think there's a way of fighting for what is right and pure without complaining. We can disagree with politics, injustices, etc (if you're a Brazilian, you know what I mean!) without complaining! Disagreeing and complaining are two different things!

"My dear brothers, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry, for man's anger does not bring about the righteous life that God desires."

And why do we complain about other people? The weather? Traffic? Our circumstances? ("A man's own folly ruins his life, yet his heart rages against the LORD"). Am I sinless that we can point out other people's sin?
"You, then, why do you judge your brother? Or why do you look down on your brother? For we will all stand before God's judgment seat...Therefore let us stop passing judgment on one another. Instead, make up your mind not to put any stumbling block or obstacle in your brother's way... Let us therefore make every effort to do what leads to peace and to mutual edification." Romans 14.

Am I God, that I can judge what is and what is not best for me? Aren't I the sole reason for my own sin and consequences? The sin that is in the world that causes every disorder and every injustice is also inside of me! The only difference is that I have found Jesus, and through Him have been cleansed and freed from slavery to sin, by grace. So why should I want to act like the rest of the world? I should be focusing my life, my words, my thoughts into showing Jesus to others.

"If anyone considers himself religious and yet does not keep a tight rein on his tongue, he deceives himself and his religion is worthless. Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world."

God is not looking for a complaining heart in me, especially after He has sent His only Son to die so I could live life abundantly. He is interested in a heart full of hope, love, compassion and gratitude. I want to be full of wisdom that comes from heaven, not from earth! Full of a heart filled with joy and overflowing with peace.

"But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere. Peacemakers who sow in peace raise a harvest of righteousness."

Marcos and I have been talking a lot about all of this. It is so easy for us to complain about things. Complain about this country, about people and their attitudes or decisions, about traffic...and suddenly, in a very subtle way, complaining becomes a way of life, and that's what we don't want! We want to live like we should live: with the priceless knowledge that we do not belong in this world, we have been bought with a great price and we will have a perfect world to live in someday, even without deserving it. And every injustice in this world WILL be judged and condemned by God. So therefore, let's focus our lives here in showing hope to others, joy in Jesus, justice to those around us instead of crying and babbling that those around us who are not just to us. They will be judged by God.

I want my home to be full of laughter, love, hope, peace and positive, uplifting words. So that's one of our challenges for next year, and the rest of our lives!!

OBrigada Carissa! Acho que essas palavras são as palavras do ano para mim...ou melhor, as palavras para o ano que vem, como minha resolução de ano novo! J

Alguns pensamentos que tem passado pela minha mente:

O que há de bom em reclamar? Será que possuímos algum direito de reclamar?? Se pararmos para pensar, se eu reclamo, significa que me considero melhor, mas, eu não sou melhor. Não me entendo errado, eu acho que temos que lutar pelo que é certo, defender o que é verdadeiro... mas o tipo de reclamação que se torna resmungo ou ficar apontando os erros dos outros ou das coisas..o que há de bom nisso? Me fará crescer? Me fará mais sábia? Trará justiça?

Sinceramente, acho que há uma maneira de lutar pelo que é certo e puro sem reclamar. Podemos discordar com a política, com as injustiças, etc (se você é brasileiro, você sabe bem o que quero dizer!) sem reclamar! Discordar e reclamar são coisas diferentes!

Meus amados irmãos, tenham isto em mente: Sejam todos prontos para ouvir, tardios para falar e tardios para irar-se, pois a ira do homem não produz a justiça de Deus.

E por que reclamamos (ou julgamos) as pessoas? O tempo? O transito? Nossas circunstâncias? (“É a insensatez do homem que arruína a sua vida, mas o seu coração se ira contra o Senhor.”Prov. 19:3.) Eu sou perfeita para poder apontar os erros dos outros?
“Portanto, você, por que julga seu irmão? E por que despreza seu irmão? Pois todos compareceremos diante do tribunal de Deus... Portanto, deixemos de julgar uns aos outros. Em vez disso, façamos o propósito de não colocar pedra de tropeço ou obstáculo no caminho do irmão...Por isso, esforcemo-nos em promover tudo quanto conduz à paz e à edificação mútua.” Romanos 14

Eu sou Deus para que possa julgar o que é ou não é melhor pra mim? Não sou eu a única responsável pelo próprop pecado mim e suas consequências? O pecado que está no mundo e que causa todo tipo de desordem e injustiça está dentro de mim também! A única diferença é que eu encontrei Jesus, e através Dele fui limpa e liberta da escravidão do pecado, por pura graça! Então porque devo agir como o resto do mundo? Eu tenho que focar minha vida, minhas palavras e meus pensamentos em estar mostrando Jesus para os outros.

“Se alguém se considera religioso, mas não refreia a sua língua, engana-se a si mesmo. Sua religião não tem valor algum! A religião que Deus, o nosso Pai, aceita como pura e imaculada é esta: cuidar dos órfãos e das viúvas em suas dificuldades e não se deixar corromper pelo mundo.”

Deus não quer de mim um coração que reclama, especialmente porque Ele mandou seu unico Filho para morrer para que eu tivesse vida em abundância. Ele está interessado em um coração cheio de esperança, amor, compaixão e gratidão. Quero estar cheia de sabedoria do alto, não terrena! Cheia de um coração cheio de alegria e transbordando de paz.

“Mas a sabedoria que vem do alto é antes de tudo pura; depois, pacífica, amável, compreensiva, cheia de misericórdia e de bons frutos, imparcial e sincera.O fruto da justiça semeia-se em paz para os pacificadores.”

Eu e o Marcos temos conversado muito sobre trudo isso. É tão fácil começarmos a reclamar sobre as coias. Reclamar deste país, reclamar das pessoas e suas atitudes ou decisões, o transito....e de repente, reclamar se torna um meio de viver, e é isso o que não queremos! Queremos viver como devemos viver: com o inestimável conhecimento de que nós não pertencemos a este mundo, fomos comprados por alto preço e iremos morar num mundo perfeito algum dia, mesmo não merecendo. E toda injustiça neste mundo será julgada e condenada por Deus. Portanto, precisamos focar nossas vidas aqui em estarmos mostrando esperança aos outros, alegria em Cristo, justiça àqueles ao nosso redor ao inves de ficarmos reclamando daqueles que não são justos conosco. Eles serão julgados por Deus.

Quero que meu lar seja cheio de risadas, amor, esperança, paz e palavras positivas e edificantes! Então este é um dos nossos desafios para o ano que vem, e o resto de nossas vidas!!
